Barking in Richmond

The news that Richmond is to bring in parking charges for residents according to the sort of car they drive has convinced me that care in the community has gone a little too far. A few years ago, lunatics were locked away in asylums - now they're sitting on Lib Dem councils.

Drive an average petrol driven saloon and watch your parking costs rocket. Cruise around in a filthy diesel spewing carcinogens into the faces of toddlers in their push chairs and you get 50% off!!

(In case you don't click the link, diesel fumes are actually more carcinogenic than cigarette smoke.)

All of this is in response to the left's new religion - climate change.

"Climate change is the single greatest challenge facing the world today," said council leader Serge Lourie.

Climate change, Serge, is entirely normal. The climate has been changing since the earth first got a climate and you are not going to stop it. Not now, not next year, not ever. Never. The greatest challenge facing the world today is getting idiots like you to face up to the fact that climate change is not man-made, that CO2 is not a pollutant, that 90% of the greenhouse effect comes from water vapour and that man's activities accounts for around 2.5% of CO2 emissions - the rest of it being entirely natural. Serge isn't convinced though.

"We can no longer bury our heads in the sand and pretend that it is not happening, or that dealing with it is up to somebody else.

Serge's head may not be buried in the sand, but it's clearly located somewhere where the sun don't shine. I've really had enough of these people. Don't they know that the higher the level of CO2 in the atmosphere the greener the planet gets? That's greener as in green plant life as opposed to pseudo-environmentally-friendly. Commercial plant growers actually pump CO2 into greenhouses to increase yield. We have enough problems feeding the 6,000,000,000 people on the planet as it is - cut down the CO2 and millions will starve. Nice one, Serge.

Drive a Chelsea tractor and feed the world! Just don't live in Richmond.

The sceptic in me believes that this has nothing to do with climate change, by the way. It's just the leftists hitting the people they hate most - the wealthy - as much as they can. They want us to all potter around on bicycles like the Chinese - not because it will save the world, they know damn well it doesn't need saving - but just so that we can all be the same little clones of one another, all with the same things, the same clothes, the same houses, the same pay and the same minds filled with the same thoughts. All in the name of egalitarianism.
