Peace and love, man - or I'll thump you

A "peace" activist who was once a human shield in Iraq was jailed for 8 months after attacking a singer and leaving him in a coma.

New Zealander Christiaan Briggs, 30, punched Les Incompetents frontman Billy Leeson, 19, after a dispute on a bus in Islington, north London, in June.

Leeson was knocked unconscious by the assault and needed to be resuscitated, Snaresbrook Crown Court was told.

Part of the front of his skull was removed to relieve pressure on his brain. A tracheotomy to ease breathing was also carried out.

He was in hospital for six weeks and had to learn how to walk again.

What exactly had Leeson done to deserve this vicious assault? It must have been something pretty outrageous to provoke a "peace" activist into almost killing him.

The court heard Mr Leeson had been on a bus with his girlfriend when she complained Briggs was staring at her.

Prosecutor Busola Johnson said the singer asked him to "look elsewhere" and after a further "exchange of words", got off in Camden.

Ok - so he asked Briggs to stop staring at his girlfriend and this peace loving man responded by thumping him so hard he almost died.

You couldn't make it up.

As a rule I find that anyone who describes themselves as a "peace" activist is often disguising an aggressive character. Generally, they are not for "peace" as such, but only that the west should not respond to threats or acts of aggression against it. Similarly, I find that "animal rights" activists have little concern for the "rights" of animals attacked or threatened by other animals, only humans.
