Teacher sacked from Slough school for being honest

A supply teacher working in a Slough school has been dismissed after upsetting pupils, mostly Muslim, for allegedly saying that most suicide bombers are Muslim.

Andrew McLuskey was sacked from Bayliss Court Secondary School in Slough after a Religious Education lesson discussing the pros and cons of religion.

Pupils at the predominantly Muslim school claimed Mr McLuskey said most suicide bombers were Muslim.

But he rejected the allegation and said the school was too quick to sack him without giving him right of reply.

Hang on a minute. Assuming he did say what these pupils claim, is he wrong? Most suicide bombers are Muslim. That is a fact. Aren't teachers supposed to present facts to children - regardless of whether they like it or not. After all, nobody seems the least bit concerned that white British children might be upset over the idea of teachers teaching about the slave trade. In fact this is going to be forced down their throats from a typically PC angle even though the slave trade had been around for many centuries before we came along and it was only the intervention of Britain that ended it - thanks in no small part to the British Empire and our military might.

"I think I should've been given the chance to respond to the allegations and not in effect be ejected from a job without the chance to defend myself."

Quite right, too. Aren't their laws in place to prevent this sort of behaviour from employers or is the state exempt from the law? I'm sure the teachers unions will be on the case soon.

The liberal left group-think is evident in the response from the deputy head teacher.

The school authorities denied they were being heavy-handed and said their first priority was pupils' welfare.

"I don't think it's important what I think," said the school's deputy head teacher Ray Hinds.

"It's what the pupils think that were in the classroom at the time. And they were very upset."

Right. A head teacher who doesn't think it's important what he thinks - only what the pupils think. Still wondering why our education system is such a disaster? When I was a kid I used to get "upset" when the school handed out a punishment to the whole class - or often the whole year - for the misdemeanour of a single pupil. Didn't seem to bother them much then and from what my kids tell me, it still goes on now. So are they really bothered about pupils being upset - or just Muslim pupils?
