White and English need not apply

From the Mail comes this infuriating story of blatant racial discrimination from a government body.

A teenage science student has been banned from applying for a training programme with the Environment Agency because she is white and English.

The recruitment agency handling the scheme told Abigail Howarth, 18, that there was no point in her submitting an application because of her ethnic background. But bizarrely she could have applied if she had been white and Welsh, Scottish or Irish.

And where was this job? Belfast, Brecon or Brechin?

No - in bloody Bedfordshire!

So people are being banned from applying for jobs in their own backyards by government meddlers who prefer to offer jobs to any waif and stray as long as they are not English or White. The government body involved (just another one of those many quangos that now waste £120 BILLION of taxpayers money every year) reveals the true purpose of their reason for being as a spokesman says ...

"Public-sector organisations have a duty to ensure they reflect the make-up of the society they serve."

No they do not! If they have any duty at all, they have a duty first and foremost to provide the services they are being paid to provide at the best possible value for money to the taxpayer. After the recent floods, does anyone believe the Environment Agency is doing that?

It's common assumption that quangos are bodies of "experts" who are supposed to know about whatever it is they are quangoing. Their real purpose is nothing of the sort - they are there to implement and enforce regulation, most of which comes from the European Union.

Quangos are the most dangerous challenge to true democracy we face today. They are unelected and unaccountable and yet wield a fearsome capability to exercise arbitrary power against the ordinary people of Britain.

A real conservative party with a real conservative leader would recognise what that meant.
