Blair comes out spinning

Not Proud Of Britain has published Blair's email response to the road pricing petition (with some commentary).

Unsurprisingly, it is along the lines of the usual Blairite "trust me" drivel.

Our aim is to relieve traffic jams, not create a "Big Brother" society. I know many people's biggest worry about road pricing is that it will be a "stealth tax" on motorists. It won't. Road pricing is about tackling congestion. Clearly if we decided to move towards a system of national road pricing, there could be a case for moving away from the current system of motoring taxation. (My emphasis)

Notice he doesn't make a definite commitment to move way from the "current system of motoring taxation" or even admit that there would be a case to do so. That's a politicians way of saying that the best you can hope for is that they would at least appear to consider it before dismissing the idea out of hand.

As for his claim that his aim is not to create a Big Brother society - who does he think he's kidding. ID cards, national DNA databases, children's databases, CCTV, movement monitoring, government propaganda through the highly sympathetic state funded BBC, a politicised police and he wants us to believe he's not creating a "Big Brother" society!

Tony, I wouldn't trust you to run a bath let alone our country.

Other people got one too? Darn, I am offended! I thought our Tone had singled me out! I also got similar drivel on the EU referendum petition. I shall post it on my blog tomorrow.

No doubt I will get similar on my own petition when/if it is approved, 6 specific measures to make the UK a democracy.

The good thing about this E-petitions blunder is, that it exposes them for what they are. Appearance of listening, never any reality.

I haven't had one yet - either about road-pricing or the EU.

Perhaps I'm being singled out?
